   The 2021 Quebrada Seca was still unbottled when I tasted it in the Alcohuaz winery in Elqui, so the wine had not yet finished decanting and was a little cloudy, but it should be clear when they bottle it in a couple of months. It's a bit sharper than the 2020. 2021 was a cooler year, and the grapes come from ungrafted vines planted with a massal selection in 1993 on the north bank of the Limarí River on clay and limestone soils, which is quite rare in Chile but found here. It fermented after a direct pressing in used 228-liter barrels, where it matured for 24 months. It has 13.1% alcohol and a low pH of 3.18, denoting freshness, and with high acidity too, which makes this vibrant and electric, sharp and a bit austere right now. It should develop nicely in bottle. Very promising.
