Deze geliefde cuvée van Moss Wood komt van twee unieke wijngaarden in Margaret River met een eigen karakter. De wijn van de wijngaard in Yallingup kenmerkt zich door zijn concentratie aan zwarte bes en bosbesjes, terwijl die van de wijngaard van Cowaramup weer violet en aalbesjes vertoont. Inderdaad, een prachtige combinatie, meesterlijk gevinifieerd door gepassioneerd eigenaar Keith Mugford.

Moss Wood
Moss Wood, geplant in 1969, is één van de pioniers van de Margaret River-wijnstreek, gelegen in de noordelijke subregio van Wilyabrup, West-Australië. Clare & Keith Mugford, wijnbouwers en eigenaren, maken sinds respectievelijk 1984 en 1979 wijn op het kleine Moss Wood. Hun veeleisende oog voor detail zorgt voor de productie van druiven van exceptionele kwaliteit. Jaar in jaar uit onderscheiden de fijne wijnen zich door hun consistentie en uitzonderlijk bewaarpotentieel. Reeds jaren draagt de Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon de titel als allerbeste van Australië. De namen Moss Wood & Mugford staan synoniem voor compromisloze kwaliteit.

    This bright and aromatic Cabernet Sauvignon blend is beautifully approachable as it delivers an elegant expression of Margaret River. It opens with aromas of fruits of the forest and dried herbs with floral touches and a gravelly edge. Mid-weight and more reserved than the current releases of Ribbon Vale, a bright line of fresh acidity provides impact to the supple flavours with chalky tannins adding a gentle grip. It’s an early drinking style but with plenty of complexity.

    A bright ruby red colour. Raspberry and crushed violet aromas lift from the glass. Fresh and juicy on the palate, there’s a joyous vibrancy to the wine that keeps you entertained on repeat visits. The tannins are almost playful in their fine-grained persistence, and a hint of freshening acidity as it lingers long adds to that sense of life.

    Red fruits, mulberry and cherry, hazelnut chocolate, mint nougat, and some biscuit spice. It’s supple and fleshy, quite the chocolate nuts flavour, juicy spiced poached strawberry, light grainy tannin, and a succulent and nutty finish of good length. There’s almost a sweet red apple flavour too. It’s at ease with itself now, and drinks very well. It has a high yum factor, shall we say?
