   Emily’s is traditionally more reserved, and the ‘19, in particular, benefits from a decant and a splash of air. There is unaccustomed power in this vintage, courtesy of high alcohol, so some of the subtlety of the wine is lost, replaced by a more upfront, bold personality. As the wine moves across the palate, however, there it is, the fine tannin grace, so svelte and lively. And it’s still early days for young Emily.

   Ripe plum, green olive, nougat and brown spice, lots of oak, lots of booze-soaked ripe fruit. All does well in its way. Slick and rich to taste, supple and flows well, all components well integrated, exceptional length and palate-staining persistence with a slightly too breathy finish, but you get the gist its going to work out. Chunky, chewy, deep but with good flow. Bold, big red done well.
