   Pinot noir is ongetwijfeld ��n van de sterwijnen uit het gamma en dat hoeft nauwelijks te verwonderen. Wijnmaker Fran�ois Massoc heeft nauwe bindingen met die Bourgogne en terroir-specialist Pedro Parra is letterlijk bezeten door die pinot noir. Daarom dat op zoek gegaan werd naar het perfecte terroir en die vonden ze in het Chileense diepe zuiden. En die werd beplant met de beste klonen uit de Bourgogne. In het glas pinot noir die veel bourgognes het nakijken geeft. Briljant mediumrood getint, erg knappe neus, vers rood fruit, vooral framboos, aardbei en bosbes, fijn en fris, netjes gevuld van bij de start, ook de mond is ��n en al fruit, geen stoere krachtpatser maar fluweelzachte tannines in de staart, fraai toegedekt met mineraalfrisse zuren. Grootse pinot noir, ��n en al elegantie, voor bij een stukje gevogelte of wit vlees.

   My focus has always been Pinot Noir and Chardonnay so I would say Aux Reignots from Liger Belair and Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folati�res from Jacques Lardi�re at Jadot because of their minerality. Aux Reignots is a 1er Cru that deserves to be a Grand Cru, just above La Roman�e and Roman�e Conti. I have tasted it so many times and I remember that first time, in 2004, when I really understood minerality in Pinot Noir. I have tasted Les Folati�res a few times and it is always amazing. The strong personality of Jacques Lardi�re touches me deeply, especially his ideas on terroir, energy and biodynamic viticulture.

   The 2013 Subsollum Pinot Noir is a blend of Pinot Noir from different origins, Aconcagua and Malleco, and is named after the subsoil that is different in each place; there is limestone in Aconcagua and volcanic tuff (volcanic ashes with a high mineral content) in southern Malleco. The grapes are transported to the winery in Cauquenes and each fermented separately. The wine is bottled unoaked and kept in stainless steel vats separately for some 18 months before the components are blended and bottled. The nose is ripe, yet fresh with musky strawberries, hints of decayed leaves and some spices. The palate is light to medium-bodied; here they want a wine that tastes and smell of Pinot Noir, and they certainly achieved it. It's polished, but at the same time it has some wilderness; it has character. Very tasty and easy to drink.
