J.J. Hahn - '1890's Vineyard' Shiraz

The fruit used to produce this super premium Shiraz were harvested from low yielding, Ancestor vines planted in the 1890s in the Barossa sub region of Vine Vale. It has been determined that these precious vines were in fact the parent vines to the now famous cuttings that were taken to plant the Rolf Binder ‘Hanisch’ vineyard in 1972. Pure Shiraz flavours of plums, red berry fruits and chocolate are balanced with soft velvety tannins that linger very well on the palate. Matured in all new oak, with the majority being American, this is a rich and full-bodied wine that highlights classic Barossa Shiraz. This wine will age gracefully for many years and pays homage to the veteran Barossa growers who have treated these very old vines with great respect to enable the future generations to reap the rewards.
