   The 2016 Chardonnay Moutere stands tall as one of New Zealand's top Chardonnays. It may not be as intensely concentrated as some vintages, but this medium-bodied wine still carries itself with elegance and grace. Toasty oak frames refined melon and pear fruit, peach and pineapple, all underscored by a silky texture and a fine line of citrus that lingers on the finish.

   Until recently, the 2014 Neudorf Moutere Chardonnaywas the only wine to earn 100 points from me. When I reviewed the 2016 Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay about a year ago, I opened my last bottle of 2014 Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay as a benchmark for my assessment. When the 2017 sample arrived a few weeks ago it was accompanied by the 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages as references for the latest vintage. Here�s how I rated them.
   
   Neudorf�s 2015 Moutere Chardonnay was even better than when first tasted.
   The 2014 Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay was as good as I remembered it, with defined minerality and high energy. No change to the score, which would have been downgraded if it was at all off the pace.
   
   Neudorf�s 2015 Moutere Chardonnay was even better than when first tasted. Only just in the shadow of the 2014. Terrific wine. Score raised from 98 to 99 points.
   
   The 2016 Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay is another lovely wine � very typical of the Moutere style, but perhaps with slightly less concentration than the two earlier vintages. No change to its score of 97 points.
   
   Finally, the 2017 Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay was closer to the 2016 vintage than the wines from earlier years. A lovely wine without the power of the two high fliers. 97 points.
