Finca O Pereiro komt van dezelfde wijngaardsite als Alma de Mar, maar de wijngaarden werden aangeplant op de meer kleihoudende terroir. Desalnietemin is ook in deze cuvée de ragfijne mineraliteit zéér aanwezig, ondersteund door een rijk fruitig en gestructureerde onderbouw.

Eén van de mooiste ontdekkingen van het afgelopen jaar uit Spanje is vast en zeker Albamar uit Rias Baixas. De jonge zéér getalenteerde Xurxo Alba maakt verschillende witte wijnen op basis van de typische druivensoort Albariño. Hij maakt selecties in de wijngaarden en vinifieert de opbrengsten apart. Prachtige mineraliteit in alle wijnen dankzij de terroir van leisteen en kalk. Fraîcheur en puurheid gaan hand in hand, magnifiek. Deze wijnen proeven beter als ze een jaartje ouder zijn. Parker: Xurxo Alba produced a wide range of Albariño (and one red) in his hometown in Rías Baixas, but also a handful of reds from Ribeira Sacra. One of the highest improvers in the last few years and a name worth keeping in mind.

    The single-vineyard 2018 Finca O Pereiro has a deeper color and even a pinkish tint (they foot trod more full clusters to make the starter for the natural fermentation). There is a very balsamic nose, with hints of eucalyptus even, and something earthy/reminiscent of clay. It was a year of mildew, so there were some dry grapes that can add color and concentration. The palate is explosive, very intense, electric and marine; in the distant past, the sea used to be where the vines are now planted. This is a wine that is very consistent, more marked by the place than the vintages, and it keeps a similar profile. This is 100% stainless steel, and this year didn't go through malolactic. Furthermore, as no Alba de Mar was bottled in 2018, the wine was blended with this! 3,300 bottles produced.
