   Inspired by a wine tasting trip to Burgundy, Fabio Tassi returned to Tuscany with the dream of making an amphora-fermented Sangiovese. Thus was born the Tassi 2018 Brunò. These results deliver purity and grace, with a very lifted or bright quality of fruit that underlines a simple winemaking philosophy. In its naked state, Sangiovese offers aromas of earthy soil, blue flower, rose and wild berry. Those tones emerge here with clarity. Some 15% whole cluster is used. Italy has a growing number of wines like Brunò on offer today, and the energy behind this trend is blossoming into a full-fledged movement. I can think of similar expressions made at Castello dei Rampolla and Fattoria Petrolo. Within this group, Brunò emerges as a very worthy contender, and this is a wine I am happy to recommend, especially for natural wine enthusiasts. It's a great value, but too bad only 1,200 bottles were produced.
